Microsoft has announced the release of Visual Studio 2022 17.3, which adds several new features and now supports .NET MAUI out of preview.
“Visual Studio 2022 17.3 has been released and is now generally available,” Microsoft’s Chris Hardy announced. “Visual Studio 2022 17.3 comes with new features such as .NET MAUI [general availability] tooling, Azure Container Apps, and more, [and] new features as suggested in Developer Community by you.”
Among the key changes in this release are:
.NET Multi-platform App UI (MAUI) support. Previously, developers needed to use a pre-release version of Visual Studio to target cross-platform apps with .NET MAUI, but now this support has been added to the mainstream, release version of Visual Studio.
Microsoft Teams apps support. A Teams Toolkit for Visual Studio is now available so that developers can create apps that embed UI in a Teams tab, notify a channel with a customized message, trigger a task from a chat command, and more.
Azure Container Apps support. Visual Studio now supports deploying to Azure Container Apps, either on demand or via GitHub Actions.
There’s a lot more, of course, so check out the original blog post for the complete list. And look forward to Visual Studio 2022 17.4, which is also available in preview now. This release is notable because it will be the first to be made available as a native Arm64 application.
