Photos library question

So I’m in the process of moving files, pictures, and videos onto my M1 Mac Mini. I have everything on OneDrive and have it installed.

My question has to do with file management of my pictures. On Windows inside My Pictures folder I’d have my old scanned pictures put into folders named via years. How do I do this in the Photos app on a Mac? Hope this makes sense? Do I even need to do that kind of folder organization on a Mac since I can choose to display the pictures in Photos by Year? Any tips and advice on this would be appreciated.

In Photos you can set up Albums, then have Folders inside the Albums. So you could have an Album called 2012, then Folders like Holidays, Vacations, Events. You create the Albums and Folders you want to use then just drag and drop the files into appropriate spot. Remember these will be moves to iCloud and count against your storage quota.

Can't help much with the folder structure for a Mac, but I believe that the display of pictures by date relies on the Date Taken field, which for your scans will be the day you scanned them, unless you edited the Date Taken field to be something closer to the actual date the photo was taken.
