Edge updating on macOS

Is anyone here having problems with Microsoft Edge auto-updating on their Mac? I have three Macs in my household (one Intel, two Apple Silicon), and none of them are able to update this application. When you go to edge://settings/help, it reports that it is up to date even though it is a revision or more behind.

The web “installer” is now a more Mac-like drag-and-drop affair, where you mount the disk image and drag the Microsoft Edge.app bundle into the /Applications folder. Upon first launch, it deploys the EdgeUpdater binaries in ~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft. But it never actually updates the application.
