Microsoft 365 Family Mail Host

New MS 365 Family user current using G Suite to host custom domain email. I would like to switch hosting to MS, but via the Family site they only talk about the domain register being Go Daddy. My register is not Go Daddy. Does this mean I’ll be forced to switch registers if I want to move my email hosting away from G Suite?

Sadly yes, you have to move to GoDaddy.

That or use a business plan… Depending on what you actually need, it offers a lot more.

I have Microsoft 365 E1 (not Family) – I can definitely use other DNS registrars if I choose to. Microsoft 365 E1 will automatically deal with your DNS if you use GoDaddy (adding the MX, SPF and DMARC records for you). Using another provider means you must add those records yourself. Not sure if that helps you.

You have to pay for the business plans. Personal is just Gmail + Calendar, etc.

Go Daddy says this can't be true. MS will not share the MX records with my register. I'm in a catch 22.
