I’ve been keeping my adblocker off at thurrott.com and intend to keep doing the same. I am curious though how much it helps you guys on top of my subscription to display the ads.

In reply to wunderbar:

You mean no ads are shown to Premium users after we sign-in. There is that webinar ad….

In reply to Oasis:

This is a tricky one because this 'ad' is something we are actually hosting.

In reply to brad-sams:

You know my feelings about pop up ads but l'm also receiving bloody emails about the webinar. I've had to block the site which means l no longer receive the daily email. Not good Brad!

Is there a way to receive the daily email only and not promotions?

In reply to anchovylover:

YMMV on all these things. If my job will let me take the time, I want to do the webinar. If I didn't hear about it because I wasn't receiving ads as I pay for the site, I'd be pretty mad. Inevitably, it's not possible to create a balance that has everyone perfectly happy.

In reply to Polycrastinator:

I kinda had the feeling that the limited ads would be things like that. Thurrott and Petri related events, et al.

In reply to brad-sams:

Ohhhhhh! Well, that's fair. After all, I did think that Premium users still would see some ads. I guess that's one of them.

My original post was just because it was breaking the frame in Safari.

Do ads have to be actually clicked on for sites to make money? I don't think I've every clicked on an ad anywhere (at least not intentionally).
