Huawei staff admitted to having worked with Chinese intelligence agencies in a “mass trove” of employment records leaked online, according to an analysis of the files.

The CVs of the Huawei employees appear to show “far closer links” between the telecommunications company and military-backed cyber agencies than previously thought, a think tank has warned.

According to the study, the employment files suggest that some Huawei staff have also worked as agents within China’s Ministry of State Security; worked on joint projects with the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA); were educated at China’s leading military academy; and had been employed with a military unit linked to a cyber attack on US…

I wonder how many people that work at leading tech firms today in America has previously work, or did research or published papers with DARPA, Pentagon or US army/navy/airforce or NASA? Strange that the those places hire smart people that works in technology.

I once worked for a US government contractor that prided itself on hiring former military people.

In addition, If Huawei employees are working so closely with Chinese military intelligence, why are they putting information in their CVs that could link them back to the military. Must not be a very effective intelligence operation is that's the case.

And I would also guess that some CISCO engineers may also have previously worked in US Military services.

So, all it means is nothing.

The article is making it out to seem that once you leave the military, you cannot work for any company.

All this shows is that they hire veterans.

If you look at German CVs up until about 5 – 6 years ago, nearly everybody had links to the German military. When you left school you had to do a year of military service – conciensious objectors could do a year of social service (working on ambulances, in nursing homes etc.).

I can't read the full article, so I don't know how many actual CVs were looked at and how long and at what age those people were with the military… On the other hand, those working in the military in the USA, for example, will usually move into the private sector after their stint in the military. Again, if it is 10 – 20%, probably not an anomally, if it is 70-90% of employees were move than 3 years with the military, then there is a strong case.

The U.S. Congress has now admitted that it has no evidence against Huawei. Instead, it is simply suspicious that it could do something wrong if asked to by the Chinese government.

"Huawei’s products [are] particularly susceptible to the prospective threat of wrongdoing by the Chinese government.”

Congress argues in a legal motion that "it does not matter that Congress did not conclusively show that Huawei had done something wrong in the past."

"<a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2019/07/05/technology/huawei-lawsuit-us-government.html" target="_blank">https://www.nytimes.com/2019/07/05/technology/huawei-lawsuit-us-government.html</p>
