Google is phasing out user-agent strings

Just as the new Edge is about to be deployed, Google is phasing out user-agent strings in Chrome. Clearly, they are fearful of losing share, as other vendors use Chromium as the basis of their browsers. They can talk about how it is all about keeping sites from fingerprinting visitors; but all of the non-Google Chromium browsers must be cutting in to their data hoovering.
