When it was announced that the Surface Go 4 would have an Intel N200 CPU, I was actually a bit excited. Go 3 and earlier used dual core chips, so this was a doubling of the core count. Now that Geekbench has some results, it looks as if this excitement was warranted. Here are a couple of random picks from the results list:
Go 3 with i3-10100Y (single/multi): 1,049 / 1,836
Go 4 with N200 (single/multi): 1,260 / 3,188
That’s a pretty substantial increase, and the top end of the results spectrum are in the ballpark of something like a desktop i3-8100. I’m not sure if it’s reflected in the score, but Go 4 also uses DDR5 memory instead of the DDR3 found in the Go 3.
If it weren’t for the ~$800 price tag for the max’d out variant (256gb), I’d be very tempted to grab one and try to daily it (obviously with it docked to a real monitor and keyboard most of the time). You should at least get 12gb of memory for that price though.
Anyway, looks like my pokey little Go 3 will be sticking around (for now).
