Zorin 18 will be released Tuesday, October 14

Or so they have announced.

I installed the beta on a very old computer that was running Windows 10. The changes to the interface make it even more Windows-ish. OneDrive integration is good, but does not include offline file access; it is considered a network share. That said, integration in the file manager is good. The same applies to Google Drive.

Brave is the standard browser, I also added Edge simply because it works better for m365 online. It comes with Libre Office, but I find that OnlyOffice Desktop is more compatible. The Zorin help site has instructions for installing the core Microsoft fonts as well as Aptos, which improves file compatibility and fidelity.

I could have my significant other use this, and she would not be lost…it would be familiar enough. If you have an older machine, this is a good way to re-purpose it for general use. A good way to dip your toes in Linux and still have a computer that feels familiar.
