New Visitor? Please Create an Account or Whitelist Us in Your Ad Blocker

Visitors to Thurrott.com who are not registered—e.g. are not Premium or non-Premium members—will now see the following soft block displayed when they try to read an article.

I assume it’s obvious why we’re doing this. But I want to be clear that no one with a Thurrott.com account will see this block.

To view articles on Thurrott.com, simply create an account. Or, better still, subscribe to Thurrott Premium, which is currently on sale for just $48 for the first year, a savings of $7 over the normal $55 annual pricing.

Either way, thanks!

Sorry to say I see this everytime. Once I log in it disappears, of course.

In reply to kherm:

You get automatically logged out at some point. I go for days, then suddenly I've been logged out and have to log back in again.

FYI, if I'm not logged in in Firefox with uBlock Origin, I get the ad blocker page on the front page of the site (I logged out and checked again to confirm). I don't see that behavior in Edge, but it sounds like that's not intended so wanted to let you know.

Some people don't want to create an account just to read something.

In reply to paul-thurrott:

I would white list your site, except a couple months ago, there use to be a whole page popup. That just pops up out of nowhere when I'm trying to read.

Some ads are just intrusive.

It's interesting, I see the message on Firefox but not Chrome.
