Comet Browser FYI

Finally, I got the invite to Perplexity’s Comet Browser, I downloaded it, and I am using it right now. Everything, including extensions, and bookmarks, just transferred over and it is like nothing really changed from Brave.

However, voice dictation is wonderful and accurate, as I am using it right now. The Assistant [A.I.] in a panel on the right side of the browser, can summarize the current webpage, and it is interesting that it does not miss much.

I am only 20 minutes into using it, but it is well thought out. It has everything that was on my Brave Browser.

Something to know: “its AI features create new types of risk compared to traditional browsers”, that actually came from Perplexity when I asked about its security and privacy of the Comet Browser. Its summary response was:

  • In summary, Comet puts privacy controls in your hands, stores most browsing data locally, features ad/tracker blocking, and has responded to security vulnerabilities—yet its AI features create new types of risk compared to traditional browsers. Using Incognito Mode and configuring privacy settings gives you the greatest control over what data is stored or processed.

I think I am going to use igcognito mode and clamp down on all the privacy settings.
