In reply to StevenLayton:

Voodoo would always be that something truly special. Seeing my first accelerated game was like that moment. Did loads of switching to show people between software and hardware in Quake 2.

In reply to madthinus:

I didn't have a clue about console gaming in the late '90s. I bought a Monster 3D card for my Pentium-120, and that was my world.

Depends on how you define odd.

People of Walmart always gives me a laugh.

There used to be this comedy site called Ming The Merciless. It was themed mainly around the 1980 Flash Gordon film, but there were many other 70s Sci Fi references there too.

It was built with state of the art circa 2000 HTML with a touch of Flash. Not much animation, save for a few pages, making it more like a slideshow of these bizarre, goofy things.

Cornelius from “Planet of the Apes” was cast as Breakfast Chimp, and he with cigarette in hand and an ascot around his neck presented “Mystery Nimbus”. An edited audio track from the trailer for “Mystery Island”.

The head of General Zod from the ‘78 Superman film was used to replace the cockpit of TIE Fighters from Star Wars. There would be fleets of them in the background on some pages. One page generated popups of the Zod TIE Fighter.

And let’s not forget…

… BORE WORMS!!! ?

Look that one up.

Having computers as both a career and hobby I like websites that have nothing to do with computers. I found this website http://www.bateau.com where I purchased plans to build a sailboat using "Stitch-and-glue" construction. It was more expensive than I estimated, and took three years longer that I originally planned, but it was very rewarding.

For pure over the top, see Ling's Cars: lingscars.com.

It's a totally legitimate car leasing site in the UK. You have to see it to believe it.

I have no affiliation with them and I'm not advertising. It was mentioned on a TWIT podcast by Leo Laporte many years ago and I thought it was funny.
