VMware Alternatives

I am not making any knee jerk reactions but with the changes Broadcom is already making to VMware licensing I have to consider alternatives. I don’t work for a huge enterprise and we can’t afford this if licensing costs become too much.

I’ve got vCenter managing some standalone ESXi hosts and two clusters. Does anyone use a different virtualization product in your datacenters that you would recommend? My small experience with Hyper-V and good relationship with Microsoft has me considering that but I hear good things about Nutanix and more recently Proxmox. I haven’t looked at pricing for either of those, though.
