Pop-ups are Everywhere

Has anyone else noticed that pop-ups and similar, focus-steeling windows, notices, and dialogue boxes are everywhere these days? You can hardly open an article on a news site (Thurrott.com with a premium subscription notwithstanding) and not have your view of the article blocked within a minute or two. I just opened a PDF in Adobe Reader and I had to click through two boxes that stole focus before I could read the PDF I opened. And after every major iOS release, Apple makes you tap through notices on damn near every first-party Apple app. Enough already!
