Immersive Reader extension no longer working on Chrome/Chromebooks

My daughter has a few learning disabilities and has become pretty dependent on Immersive Reader to complete most of her reading assignments. Recently the Immersive Reader extension is no longer working on her Chromebook. I wonder if the extension was broken by Googles crackdown on ad blockers? She gets this error when using it now

newselaimmersivereader.cognitiveservices.azure.com’s server IP address could not be found.

Any ideas why it is not working and what I can do? Immersive Reader is much more than just a screen reader and have had issues with alternatives. Will start looking again if Immersive Reader is gone for good though. Only other option is to buy her a laptop but school wants them to use the school issued chromebook in class. Thanks,
