Google Home setup

So, I was setting up a Google Home for a non-tech friend that has a Samsung Galaxy J3 Achieve. Granted, cheap phone but it is running Android 8 so it isn’t outdated. So, it’s finds the Home, puts it on the network but after that, the phone loses connection and will not continue setup. I asked if she had any other devices and she had an old Nexus 7 tablet. Tried with that and worked perfectly the first time. Got it going but just peaked my curiosity. I assume that since Samsung is not pure Android that something they did breaks the Home app. Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

Wrong band on a dual-range router? If not, and assuming this is a Samsung issue, I'd look on a Samsung, Android or Home forum. I can't address the experience you describe because I don't use Google Home and am still avoiding Samsung phones based on some old irritations and current obstinacy.
