Problems with Google mini playing Spotify

My daughter got a Google mini for Christmas and we have a Spotify premium account. When she says, “ok google, play spotify playlist X, it responds saying “Ok, playing spotify playlist X” but then nothing happens. I tried unlinking the spotify account from her Google Home app, rebooting the mini, but was not sure what to try next. Anyone have any ideas on what is wrong? Thanks

Maybe check your Spotify account to make sure the link to Google products is enabled and the reverse?

She can configure her Spotify account as the default for music (in the Google Home app) and just say "Hey Google, play [playlist name]" going forward.

Settings > Services > Music > Spotify

I just tested this and it works fine here. Lots of help, I know.

In reply to paul-thurrott:

After looking into it more, it seems to specific playlists that don't work. Most are working fine but of course the one she wants will not play. She can say "Hey Google, play todays top 50" and it works. If she says, Hey Google, play playlist Daydreamer" it says that it will but nothing happens or it goes back to the previous play list. I'll head over to google support and see if they have any ideas. I just wanted to make sure what I was doing should have work and cover some of the basic troubleshooting. Thanks

In reply to paul-thurrott:

Sorry, I wasn't very clear. Most work fine when using the specific playlist name. There are a few that are not starting when using the specific name. For example, the playlist named Daydreamer will not start but the specific playlist named Todays top 50 will. I'm looking into it more but I wonder if there might be some age restrictions in place that may keep some playlists and songs from starting. If that is the case, it would be nice if it would same something instead of not working.

Spotify won't play any local playlists (created with my MP3) on a smart speaker, only online playlists.

Local playlists play just fine on my phone or PC on the other hand.

That may be the issue.

In reply to ggolcher:

She is tring to start a playlist that was made by Spotify. Some of them are working and some of them will not. I read something about filter settings and wonder if it could be the problem. Thanks
