That may be the point: Once YouTube Music has duplicated all of the functionality in Google Play Music, Google will push all Play Music customers to the new app and get rid of Play Music.

I've been messing around with YouTube music and it seems fine, but I have noticed albums on GPM are not available on YouTube Music. These are albums I didn't upload myself, so I don't own them. They are just ones I have searched for to compare. One example – Dierks Bentley album called Black. I had assumed the library would be the same on both services.

I'm trying to use is as much as I can to help test it, though Google Play Music will still be my primary one and what my Google Home's pull from. It for sure is "beta" and can't wait for my collection to move over and for a widget. Yes, a widget…I need one. 🙂

I don't think there will be much difference to be honest. It's more of a re-branding exercise to bring all streaming media under the 'Youtube' name which is globally recognized. GPM may eventually disappear, but only in name.
