SARCASM – OneDrive Ah, the dreaded “processing file changes” purgatory

On holiday with a laptop for 5 days, came home and turned on my desktop, noticed the OneDrive Cloud icon with the “refresh” style. Ugh.

Message was “processing 90,000 changes.” In a minute it whipped through 120 changes.

Asked “my AI companion”, Co-Pilot: “at 2 per second, how long to do 90,000”

AI: So it would take 12 hours and 30 minutes. That’s a long stretch—hope you’re not timing something tedious!

Asked my AI companion about OneDrive:

AI: Ah, the dreaded “processing file changes” purgatory—OneDrive really likes to take its sweet time sometimes! If it’s been stuck longer than expected, you might try pausing and resuming the sync, checking for updates, or restarting OneDrive entirely. If you’re dealing with a massive number of files, it can take a while to index everything. Not that any of that makes the waiting less painful—hopefully, it gets moving soon!

Good thing I can use rclone to figure out what’s out of sync and get the files I need!
