8Gigs of ram enough

I am getting ready to buy another laptop. Probably a refurbished Lenovo X1. They are easy to find with 8 gigs of ram and cost more of course if you want 16. My question is, does 8 GB of ram perform well with a Quad Core processor and Win 11, or will I find myself wishing for 16? Mostly use office and a couple of light-weight applications.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I found a good deal on a Lenovo Thinkbook 14 Gen 2 with a Ryzen 7 (4700) and 16GB of ram. I haven’t had an AMD Processor in many years but everything I read says it is better than a 10th Gen i7 and slightly slower than a gen 11. Is that true?
