New Surface Studio’s soon?

All of the Surface Studios are sold out online, and the local Microsoft store can not get certain models anymore.

Hopefully a refresh is inbound, along with a Surface Laptop update. Both ready for Back-To-School 🙂

Its interesting isnt it. I seem to recall the Surface Studio was "expected to be modular" before it was formerly announced. It subsequently wasnt when released. Now it seems theres going to be a new version coming out, a few weeks (maybe months) since Panos tweeted a photo of his surface studio on his desktop and everyone wondered whether it was a reference to the Surf Studio or the device/camera used to photo it. (cue andromeda surface phone chatter)

Now…. Andromeda is possibly upcoming and described as a modular/mobile aspect of Windows Core OS, and I just wonder if the reason there's not been a wider surface upgrade yet, is everything waiting to become part of this "modular" windows approach, and maybe just maybe Surface Studio is going to released in its original "modular" design…. along with a full house of refreshed windows modular devices.

I can remember one about 2 or more screens doing different things depending on the config, but processors?

In reply to PeterC:

I have dreamed of having a mobile device which I could connect to a Tower and use that for big applications then disconnect my phone and use it on the go. That is probably way to complex with a tiny audience so I don't suspect it to happen, but who knows.

This simply must have SDD's and at least GeForce 1050's in them before I'd even consider purchasing one. And I have a feeling any refresh would include these. The 1050 on my SB 2 has proven to be good enough for me for video and gaming. Simply have no issues on anything I throw at it.

I would like to see them move into power desktop class hardware for the next update. But the biggest request would be to separate the screen from the computer. Give the people with new Surface devices a Surface monitor that can be used as a desktop system/dock.

Yeah, for sure, mom & dad are going to go out and buy little jimmy a nice Surface Studio to play Minecraft on and 'do his homework'. Get real. Even a Surface laptop, other than being a crippled device, is stupidly expensive for what it is. Go and buy Jimmy a Chromebook like his school uses, and it will do everything he needs.
