Edge – How to load tabs in background?

I lke the new Edge, but there’s one feature that’s driving me crazy. When there are several web pages I want to open, I will frequently use the “Open link in new tab” option and allow the tabs to load in the background. However, with the new Edge, pages no longer load in the background. Instead, you have to give each tab focus for the page to load.

Does anyone know how to turn this off? I *want* pages to load in background tabs.
