Outlook Live Tiles still broken, do Microsoft even care about WM10

One of the main advantages of Windows Phone user experience is the beautiful home screen with Live Tiles, So its embarassing that Microsoft own Outlook Live tiles are so broken. live updates stalled, Old emails, unread notification count stuck, not up to date with latest notifications. And this is on the standard consumer build.

Despite all the User Voice feedback, still no fixes. Microsoft simply delete the User Voice feedback subject, as they tend to do, when they want to avoid facing up to the issue. Dona just keeps tweeting about boy bands. Google searches suggest hard reset, and use of a the recovery tool. Wow, the average user will be impressed by that.

WP8.1 remains a better, more solid experience, than how WM10 is emerging. Still bug ridden, slow updates.

I don’t have any problems with the Mail app (aka Outlook) live tile. I did in the early days though. It seemed to get progressively better until it performs as expected now and has done for some time.

On the other hand the Facebook app and Facebook Messenger app have absolute rubbish on the Live Tile count and also the Task bar badges. (Those two counts are often different!) This happened a few weeks back after some upgrade to those apps I think. Is it MS or Facebook? These counts are consistently wrong on Windows phone (running W10 14393), a desktop running 14393 and a desktop running 14986.

I’ve only had this happen once. I fixed it buy creating a Cortana reminder for 30 mins later, went back to the start screen and after 10 seconds both mail and calendar tiles flipped to the correct ones. Then I deleted the reminder and have never had issues since. I actually think you’re being a bit harsh on Microsoft, they have a fix in place for this sort of issue in the creators update where you can just reset the app in settings. I think for you right now, it definitely sucks that you have an issue, but you’re a part of a minority. Unless you’re willing to reset the phone to fix it right now, you just have to either keep complaining into the wind or just suck it up.

Well is definitely broken, on my brand new Lumia, which is running Version 1607, 10.0.16352.50010

And the reason why I am complaining, along with many others, is despite a very high User Voice reporting this issue, Microsoft response was simply to delete the issue from User Voice. So much for listening to feedback. Dona should stop tweeting about boy bands, and be honest about fixing W10 mobile.

You’ll be pleased to know that this is an issue with the Mail live tile on Windows 10 too. Lol. It magically fixes itself every now and then, but I’ve come to not rely on it because it isn’t reliable.

Lumia 950 user here. Outlook live tile is the one thing that is rock solid for me. Count has always been correct. It even updates right away after I open emails. Maybe this is somehow related to email service provider?

Well I have worked out that I have to Soft Reset my Phone, a couple of times a day, if I want Calendar and Mail Live Tiles.

I have resolved this in the past by in-pinning and re-pinning the tiles, not ideal but it has fixed it for me.

Windows 10 Mobile is tough. You pretty much need to be on the Insider Preview to stay up to date. But that introduces its own issues, obviously.

I strongly recommend dropping Windows phone. It’s 2017.
