So, this morning there’s apparently a “new” Sticky Notes app which is available…through OneNote?
Introducing the new Sticky Notes app for Windows (microsoft365.com)
To access it, launch OneNote (I assume you need to be on the latest version), and you should see a prompt to check out the new Sticky Notes app. The app does appear on your task bar with a little “PRE” tag. You can pin it to the taskbar, but otherwise, it’s not a standalone app; rather it’s a little extension of OneNote. If you want to change the Microsoft account associated with it, then you have to do that through OneNote. According to the blog post, it’s supposed to have a completely refreshed UI and some new AI powered features, although it seems to be a bit undercooked at the moment.
As someone who’s a fan of Sticky Notes and digital note-taking in general, I’m always hopeful that Microsoft will find some way to unite their myriad note-taking solutions. Here’s hoping this eventually evolves into something that is useful.
