Outlook only shows first line of every single email

Hi guys,

I have a big problem with outlook, latest desktop version on windows 10. Since about an hour ago, it suddenly started to show only the first line of every single e-mail I have. It happens in the preview and if I open the e-mail, on all accounts, microsoft and non-microsoft. I tried to uninstall and reinstall, remove all accounts and add them again but nothing seems to work. The web client works fine but it’s very inconvenient because I have to deal with multiple accounts.

E-mail is really critical to my workflow and I hope that someone here could help me, thank you

Someone posted this fix in your link about 10 minutes ago.

FIX FOUND:

Open cmd as admin

Navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun

officec2rclient.exe /update user updatetoversion=16.0.13901.20462

Takes about 10 minutes but then fixes the problem.

Thanks. I guess that command triggers a rollback, right? It’s late evening here so I will wait for now and hope they push a fix during my sleep 🙂 If not, tomorrow I will get 50 phone calls about this

I can attest to the looking all day and then seeing the post above. It worked for me too, couldn’t believe it. Something is odd about this entire issue and resolution.

I can confirm that lvthunder’s solution, found also on a few other sites, works. Cheers,

Open cmd as admin

Navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun

officec2rclient.exe /update user updatetoversion=16.0.13901.20462

OH MAN I thought it was just me. Thanks for posting.

What worked for me was to do a complete online repair of Office. Maybe the issue comes back. Thanks for speaking up

yes, this is the typical issue where the first thing you think about is that some file or database is corrupted on your end so we all wasted hours in trying to fix it. They could at least let us know that the program has been updated recently.

However, it solved itself for me this morning. But, several hours spent on useless troubleshooting and now I even lost a lot of my outlook configuration and need additional working time to set it up again.
