Possibly bogus outlook.com error message

I am getting this error message randomly when I try to use the web interface for outlook email (Mac M1 and Safari):

The Microsoft account login server has detected too many repeated authentication attempts. Please wait a moment and try again.

I have not tried repeated authentication attempts and I do not get any error messages when I use iOS or iPadOS mail.

Any suggestions (bogus or maybe my account is really under attack) would be appreciated.
