Today I Learned

Today, I learned that if you have a SharePoint library open on one monitor and Outlook 2016 open on the other, you can drag an attachment file from the email directly over the SharePoint window to upload to the library without saving the file separately first. How much time have I wasted!?

I don't use SharePoint (yet) but I felt the same way when I learned key board shortcuts for select all, copy and paste.

We use Harmon.ie to facilitate interactions between Outlook and SharePoint. I don't understand why Microsoft doesn't provide this functionality out of the box.

Going the other way, are you aware of the updated "Attached File" drop down in Outlook grabs your recent files so you don't have to go hunting for the file you were just editing.

So the library is behaving just like File Explorer then?

In reply to BigM72:

Actually yes! I'm not sure why I'm surprised, you can perform the same drag-and-drop operations in the OneDrive web client with no problem. Somehow the logical transfer of that ability never got connected in my brain before now.

Of course, the historically heterogeneous capabilities of Microsoft's various web apps probably gives me some excuses…
