ARM64 Build 2018 Build Session shows a bright future for WOA

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdYIaUeZnqc

This is the session on the Windows 10 on ARM and it is pretty crazy how apps can be recomplied with VS17.8 preview and be ran on ARM. There is a demo where he recompiles a VPN driver with zero code changes and runs it on ARM. Pretty amazing.

Noticed that Word shown in that session about Windows 10 on ARM was in dark mode, maybe that is coming to Office Insiders or something?

In reply to Dan1986ist:

You can change the theme of word to be dark in Word today, under options -> General -> Personalize your copy of Microsoft Office -> Office Theme

If it's so easy, hopefully that will just be a checkbox that devs can select… it would be really nice to see everything in the Store run ARM-native.

I wonder if this changes anything, to be honest. It's something that should be there, and it's just a checkbox select thing, for the most part. But … Windows 10 on ARM needs bigger help than 64-bit ARM apps.

Do you think that Office 365 has already been complied for ARM and is the version that gets installed on ARM devices. It runs as fast on my Envy X2 as it does on my Spectre x360.

In reply to Brendan_Hallett:

No, it's just that Office 365 uses a lot of inbox Windows components, and all of the windows components have been recompiled for ARM.

In reply to ecumenical:

Nothing. But it's a previous version of Office running on a different ARM chipset.
