Awful windows store taskbar icons

Does anybody know why windows store taskbar icons are different to those from the same apps downloaded from the web?

Whatsapp desktop and Tweeten for example when downloaded from the we b have much nicer icons than when downloaded from the store. Store app icons are really small and in a little square, its ugly and really irritating.

Does anybody know how to fix this, perhaps mehedi as developer of the tweeten app could comment as to why they are differnt?

Thanks

Adam

Aren't the Store app developers the ones determining how these things look?

In reply to adamcorbally:

Microsoft doesn't give the user a way to customize the look of a program, so you would probably need to change the icon by setting it to a different .ico file. Have you tried that yet?

In reply to xperiencewindows:

Also, it appears that Windows sets the background color of the taskbar icon to the same color your theme is set to. So Windows adds your background color to a Store app, presumably so you don't get two of the same apps confused with one another.

This has always been a problem. I filed feedback during the original beta cycle about the icons. Apparently Microsoft intends for them to be these asinine colored squares.

I have one app, Pandora that has a tiny image in the square space on the taskbar. Can't tell you what it is and image of but it opens Pandora. SpeedTest Master also is tiny and indistinguishable.
