latest edge wrinkle

Edge doesn’t seam to be a plug n play app any more. pop ups all over the place, need an extension to stop this event. when click a link on a page edge decided to open some other page first, requiring you to go back into tabs for the clicked link. and now when clicking a link on micro softs start page you need to go to the download section within edge to get to the clinked link. What happened to plug and play where you could simply browse the web with out adding numerous extensions to make edge act the way you expect.
