Modern printing without installing drivers

I am late to the modern printer game, but I love it. My old Canon printer/scanner was about 10 years old, and I had to download drivers for both my Windows and Mac computers to get it to work.

When I purchased a Windows 11 on Arm computer in late 2024, I could print, but I couldn’t use the scanning feature because there were no compatible Canon drivers for Windows on Arm (or so I believe). This was manageable since I could still use my Mac and an old Intel Windows computer to scan.

I finally decided to upgrade to a modern Brother laser printer/scanner (DCPL2640DW), and I love the experience. I can now effortlessly add the printer, print, and scan on Windows 11 on Arm and Mac without having to install drivers. Even my non-technical family can use it without needing my help with configuration or installation.

I know many of you have been living in the modern printing world for a long time, but I am really enjoying this new experience.
