My experience with a Windows Store AAA game

I purchased Forza Horizon 3 yesterday, and for the most part am pretty happy with the experience of using Windows Store for gaming.

For some reason the game download felt slow – it took around 4 hours for the 50 gb. Comparative download times for me via Steam and Origin don’t seem to take as long.

Otherwise, the experience was good, was pretty seamless.

Was pleased that my ~4+ year old PC could run it; I think I’m just squeaking by with the minimum spec.

Not quite sure that I’d go out of my way to get Windows Store games in the future, but I wouldn’t immediately avoid it either. It is fine.

Not a lot of titles available via the store yet that I’m really interested in or don’t have already – I’m not too excited about Halo, ReCode, Quantum Break, or Gears of War. We’ll see what else is available over time.

Haven’t actually tried out the Play Anywhere features yet, I don’t own an Xbox and am not in a rush to get one.

I guess we’re always comfortable with what we know. I’m so used to Steam and similar services such as Origin for gaming, and Xbox. Will be interesting to see if the Windows Store as a games platform takes off.
