Windows 11 won’t update Store

I’ve got several machines including a fresh install that can not update the Store apps. They are all stuck in some stage such as Pending, Downloading and I am seeing this:

I’ve also got a couple apparently not able to do normal updates, stuck at Downloading. It’s happening on at least 3 machines including the fresh install so it’s not just a borked machine. Anyone else seeing this? Doing some quick research shows some German sites reporting that recent versions of 11 will not update if you have a fairly long list of applications installed on the machine. That doesn’t bode well.

My machines are a mix of new and old, two with issues are certified Windows 11 ready, one of these is the new install.
