Microsoft’s Gears 5 Custom Controller Shows Up Early

In September, Microsoft will be releasing the next game in the Gears of War franchise that the company has been showing off for many months. The company hopes that the new game will bring a small bit of prestige back to the Xbox brand that has been lacking in the exclusivity department.

The new custom controller, spotted by Walking Cat, is being prepared for release alongside Gears of War 5. The controller will come with a matching stand and like previous custom controllers, this is not an Elite version but instead is the standard Xbox controller in new clothes.

Microsoft has invested a significant amount of time and money into the Gears of War franchise and the company hopes that with the fifth iteration in the series, it can find new success like the early games delivered. The Xbox franchise has been lacking a ‘killer’ exclusive title with many previous attempts like Sea of Thieves and Sunset Overdrive, despite being decent games, not attracting the attention Microsoft hoped they would bring to the platform.

Gears of War 5 will be released on September 10th and I would expect this controller to be available on or around that date.
