Sony Launches a PlayStation Online Store

And you thought Microsoft moved slowly: Sony today announced an online store where customers can buy PS4 consoles, accessories, games, and more. Assuming you live in the United States, that is.

“Integrated within the PlayStation.com website, you can now easily navigate from hardware and game product information pages directly to purchasing these PlayStation products from our store, ranging from PS4, PS4 Pro and PS VR systems and bundles, as well as headsets, DualShock 4 Wireless Controllers, PS VR accessories, a selection of physical games, and voucher codes for PS Plus subscriptions,” Sony’s Stephen Turvey writes.

To be clear, these are all physical goods: You can actually buy PlayStation 4 game discs from the store, including such titles as Astro Bot: Rescue Mission, Blood & Truth, Bloodborne, Days Gone, God of War 3 Remastered, Horizon Zero Dawn, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Game of the Year Edition, MLB The Show 19, Quantic Dream Collection, Ratchet & Clank, The Last of Us Remastered, and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.

Pricing “aligns” with that found at other retailers, Sony says, and you can gift items to others. And for a limited time—through October 31—Sony is offering two promotional console bundles: A PlayStation 4 with a 12-month subscription of PlayStation Plus for $339.99 (regularly $359.98) and a PlayStation 4 Pro with a 12-month subscription of PS Plus for $429.99 (regularly $459.98).

Sony also notes that PlayStation Plus members will get free 1-day express shipping on purchases.

Well, the express shipping is a nice perk I guess. Weird that they never had an online store until now.
