Halo 2 Anniversary is Now Available on PC

Microsoft is racing forward with its remastered Halo games on PC, with Halo 2 Anniversary arriving about two months after Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary.

“The last few months have been eventful for Halo fans on PC, as Halo: The Master Chief Collection released in December 2019 with Halo: Reach and Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary joining its younger sibling in the collection via a surprise release on March 3,” Microsoft’s Brian Jarrard writes. “The Halo fun continues as Halo 2: Anniversary releases today as the next installment in Halo: The Master Chief Collection with Xbox Game Pass, on the Microsoft Store and on Steam.”

As the firm correctly notes, Halo 2 changed online multiplayer forever as the system created for this game became the basis for online multiplayer across Xbox Live. But Halo 2 also has an incredible single-player campaign and is doubly interesting because until recently it was the last full Halo title to ship on PC as well as console. (Some may recall the temporary push for PC makers when Windows Vista launched.)

As you should expect, the Anniversary version of Halo 2 for PC supports 4K UHD graphics running at 60 frames-per-second or greater, and you can customize virtually everything, including some new options for mouse and keyboard, ultrawide displays, field of view, and more.

As with other games in the Halo: The Master Chief Collection on PC, you have some purchase options. In addition to arriving in the collection, you can experience Halo 2 Anniversary via Xbox Game Pass for PC or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, or purchase it outright for $9.99 via the Microsoft Store or Steam. (The entire: The Master Chief Collection is available for $39.99.)
