Forza Horizon 5 is Now Available

Microsoft announced this morning that Forza Horizon 5 is now available on Xbox consoles, PC, Xbox Game Pass, and Cloud Gaming. And the PC version is also available via Steam.

“It’s time to explore the vibrant, ever-evolving landscape of Mexico with limitless driving action with Forza Horizon 5 on Xbox consoles, PC on Windows and Steam, and Xbox Game Pass including console, PC and Cloud Gaming (Beta),” Microsoft’s Mike Brown writes. “Forza Horizon 5 invites you to discover living deserts, lush jungles, historic cities, hidden ruins, pristine beaches, canyons, and a towering snow-capped volcano while you lead breathtaking expeditions across the vast landscape.”

Easily the best-reviewed Xbox title in recent memory, Forza Horizon 5 is available in Standard, Deluxe, and Premium editions. (The Standard edition is what Xbox Game Pass subscribers and Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) users will get.) The Deluxe edition adds Car Pass (with 42 additional cars and 34 more on the way), and the Premium edition adds Car Pass, VIP Membership, an Expansions Bundle, and the Welcome Pack.

Microsoft notes that Forza Horizon 5 will continue to evolve in the months ahead through regular seasonal content that starts soon. This will include new races, objectives, and rewards, with the Series 1 Update coming Thursday, November 11.

I’ve put in significant hours on this since Friday. It’s riddled with bugs right now, especially with the Online components. But even when playing minor issues occur, and suprisingly, the game has straight up crashed on me, TWICE. Always when I’m rewinding to try and hit a bonis board. Oh and online it got stuck, literally, just froze, had to Focre Quit the game. I love it, and I know they will fix all these things over time, but very disappointing that when you spend $100 (for the Premium version) and get early access that the access is buggy.

I didn’t have any crash bugs but definitely was having issues with online play like everyone else, so ended up playing almost entirely in solo mode which was SO much less buggy. I can’t tell if it says something about us or about how good the game is that despite the bugs and absolutely being 90% the same game as FH4 with a different environment that we still love it so much? Either way, really looking forward to them continuing to resolve the problems.

PC version I assume? They had the same problem with FH4 on the PC. I remember it was locked at 60fps no matter how powerful your video card was. The install from the store with FH4 was riddled with issues, downloading 98% of the game and then bombing after 60+gig downloads. They sorted it eventually.

Thankfully I will be playing it tonight on the XSX which I bet has a more stable experience.

Yes also on Xbox Series X, largely bug free but you do notice them when they happen. Have had one crash so far.

Bummer. I mostly play solo anyhow, I will wait for patches.

Been playing since Friday and love it! I think its much more improved over 4. The amount of content and things to do seem endless! I played on PC first and then continued on an Xbox One X and was amazed it still ran good, but load times on regular Xbox were terrible; this game truly makes use of SSDs. I can’t wait to get back on tonight after work. Also, I never experienced crashes/glitches, but online did give issue, so like many others, I played Solo mode.

I agree. There are soo many quality of life improvements to the game that get overlooked because they may not directly tie into the racing itself. I think the game is almost night and day better than FH4.

There also is a few bugs in terms of accolades, I got the own all house accolade after not owning one (due to another buy I had to "re-buy" a free house). When I finished the Goliath I got a lot of accolades that I didn’t qualify for (like doing a road race in a cult classic car when I was driving a modern muscle class car). One of the stories, lets you get full star completion with 3 stars less than what is offered (it’s the photograph one). I’m at Level 115 or so, have the whole map open, and have finished a good chunk of things. The more I do, the more bugs I encounter, most don’t detract from playing the game mind you, it’s shut a comment on the terrible QC that is acceptable in launching software today.

Any comments on the PC version and how it works with a wheel / pedal setup?

I had goosebumps when the back of the plane opened up and the Bronco made its descent onto the mountain. I LOVE Forza Horizon 3 and 4 and I was so excited to play this one. It’s awesome. Everything about it is a joy to experience.

I am playing on an Xbox One S but even on older hardware the game still looks gorgeous. I haven’t seen the bugs and glitches others have experienced, but I only have a few hours in.

I don’t know how Playground Games raises the bar each time, but they do it, and do it well.
