Google Play Games Soft Launches on Windows in Beta

The first limited beta version of Google Play Games for PC is now available in Hong Kong, South Korea, and Taiwan.

“Once in the beta, players will be able to seamlessly play some of the most popular Google Play Games in the world—including Mobile Legends, Summoners War, State of Survival, Three Kingdoms Tactics, and more—across mobile, tablet, Chromebook, and Windows PC devices,” a Google representative told me. “They’ll also be able to browse and download games to their PC and play these games with mouse and keyboard inputs.”

Google Play Games for PC is not a game streaming solution: instead, you will download a standalone Windows app to your PC and then use that to download and play Android-based games. The service supports cross-play and game continuation, meaning that a gamer can play a game on one system and then continue it on others. It works as expected with your Google Play Games profile.

To get into the beta, however, you need to sign-up on the Google Play Games website. You’ll be notified when you can participate. And developers who are interested in this new service can likewise express their interest on the Android Developer website.

Google says it will have more to share on future beta releases and regional availability soon.
