Microsoft Reveals Final Xbox Games with Gold Lineup

Xbox Games with Gold August 2023

Microsoft has revealed today the final Xbox Games with Gold titles that will be offered to Xbox Live Gold subscribers in August. On September 14, Xbox Live Gold will be rebranded to Xbox Game Pass Core, and the monthly Games with Gold will be replaced by a catalog of 25 games from the Game Pass library.

The final Games with Gold for August include the 3D platformer Blue Fire ($19.99) and the arcade racing game Intertial Drift (also $19.99). This time, these two games will be free to claim from August 1 to August 31.

Once Microsoft’s Games with Gold program comes to an end on September 1, Xbox Game Pass Core subscribers will be able to keep playing any Xbox One Games with Gold titles they previously redeemed as long as they keep their subscription active. There will be no change in price with the Xbox Live Gold to Xbox Game Pass Core transition, which will happen automatically on September 14.

The Xbox Game Pass Core library will include several live service games (The Elder Scrolls Online, Fallout 76, and Grounded) and single-player games (Doom, Fallout 4, Psychonauts 2, Ori and the Will of the Wisps). It won’t just include Xbox Game Studios titles as the indie games Among Us, Human Fall Flat, and Inside are also on the list.

With Xbox Live Gold being rebranded to Xbox Game Pass Core, Microsoft will be able to boost its number of Game Pass subscribers, which was at 25 million subscribers back in January 2022. The upcoming transition is also an upselling opportunity for Microsoft, as Xbox Game Pass Core members may be tempted to upgrade to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate to get access to the full Game Pass catalog, including new first-party games like Starfield on day one.
