EA Revenues Were Flat in Q3, But FC 24 is Off to a Strong Start

EA's FC 24

Electronic Arts (EA) reported that it earned a net income of $399 million on revenues of $1.9 billion in the quarter ending September 30. Revenues were flat year-over-year (YOY) but the gaming giant raised its annual earnings projections based on stronger-than-expected sales of FC 24.

“We delivered a strong Q2 and successfully launched EA SPORTS FC, transforming one of the largest franchises in the world into a powerful, interactive platform for the future of football [soccer] fandom,” EA CEO Andrew Wilson said. “Looking ahead, our incredible teams will continue to innovate and expand across our world-class IP, building experiences that entertain our massive online communities, celebrate fandom, and increase connection for our growing global player base.”

EA reported that net bookings—the number of products and services sold digitally or sold-in physically—in the quarter were up 4 percent YOY to $1.82 billion. Sales of EA SPORTS Madden NFL grew 6 percent YOY, better than expected. And EA SPORTS FC 24 had over 14.5 million active accounts within four weeks of its global launch, with the mobile version of the game attracting another 11 million installs.

FC 24 is the first EA football/soccer title to not carry FIFA branding in almost 30 years, so there was some concern that the change would impact sales. But it was the third-best-selling title in September, behind Mortal Kombat 1 and Starfield. Madden NFL 24, also from EA, was fourth.
