In a blog post announcing the upcoming release of new PS VR2 titles, Sony dropped some big news for VR enthusiasts today. Indeed, the company said that it’s currently working on adding PC support for its PS VR2 headset.

“We’re pleased to share that we are currently testing the ability for PS VR2 players to access additional games on PC to offer even more game variety in addition to the PS VR2 titles available through PS5. We hope to make this support available in 2024, so stay tuned for more updates,” the company said today.

Sony’s PS VR2 is currently priced at $549.99, making it more expensive than a PlayStation 5 console ($499), or Meta’s Quest 3 headset (also $499). However, if the limited selection of PS VR2 games available on the PS5 makes the headset hard to recommend today, adding support for PC titles may eventually change that.

The PS VR2 hardware is also really decent, with two HDR-enabled 4K OLED screens with a 120Hz refresh rate. The headset also comes with well-designed Sense controllers with the same haptic feedback and adaptive triggers as the PS5 DualSense controllers. As Sony has been enjoying real success with PC ports of its various PlayStation-exclusive games, it probably makes sense for the company to make its PS VR2 headset available to the PC audience.
