Microsoft’s Xbox Partner Preview Event Reveals New Game Pass Games and More

Xbox Partner Preview event March 6 2024

Microsoft has just wrapped up its Xbox Partner Preview broadcast, which put the spotlight on new games from EA, Square Enix, Sega, and other studios coming to the Xbox platform. The event featured a total of 14 different games, with two of them already confirmed as coming to Game Pass on day one in 2024.

The first one is Frostpunk 2, the sequel to the city-building survival game released on PC and last-gen consoles. Frostpunk 2 will be coming to PC Game Pass on its launch day on July 24, 2024, and there was curiously no mention of the Xbox version even though Frostpunk 2 is also in development for Xbox Series X|S and PS5.

The second upcoming title coming to Game Pass this year is Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, a Japanese-inspired single-player game developed by Capcom. The game will also be a day-one addition on Game Pass, though it doesn’t have a firm release firm date yet.

Persona 3 Reload, a remake of the original JRPG that was released on day one on Game Pass in January will offer new content to Game Pass Ultimate members throughout the year. The just-announced Persona 3 Reload: Expansion Pass will include new story content with Episode Aigis -The Answer, additional costumes, and background music. The Persona 3 Reload: Expansion Pass will be free to grab on March 12 via the Perks program for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members.

The Xbox version of Final Fantasy XIV Online, which is currently available in open beta on Xbox Series X|S consoles, now has an official release date. The popular MMORPG will be released on Xbox on March 21, and the game’s Starter Edition will also be free for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members via the Perks program.

Other highlights from today’s Xbox Partner Preview broadcast include the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Legends of the Zone Trilogy, which is coming to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S consoles today. It’s great that the cult-classic PC games S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl, Clear Sky, and Call of Pripyat are coming to Xbox consoles ahead of the release of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl later this year. The upcoming game, which has been delayed due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, will also be a day-one addition on Game Pass.

Another highlight of today’s show was Unknown 9: Awakening, an upcoming third-person action-adventure game developed by Reflector Entertainment and Bandai Namco Europe. You may recognize that the game’s heroin is played by English actress Anya Chalotra, who also portrayed Yennefer of Vengerberg in the Netflix original series The Witcher.
