Microsoft Rewards App on Xbox to Be Discontinued in April

Microsoft is planning to discontinue its Microsoft Rewards app on Xbox consoles in April. As reported by TrueAchievements, Xbox gamers who open the app today will see a message telling them that the app will stop offering opportunities to earn Microsoft Rewards points in April, with the Weekly Set and Weekly Streak activities now set to end on April 15, 2024.
Going forward, the new Rewards hub that’s accessible from users’ Xbox profiles will be the only place where they check activities to earn Microsoft Rewards points. This hub also lets users spend their points on Microsoft Store gifts cards, Xbox Game Pass subscriptions, and more, something that the standalone Microsoft Rewards app also supports.

As of today, this new Rewards hub offers daily, weekly, and monthly quests restricted to Xbox Game Pass games. However, the message on the Microsoft Rewards app suggests that more opportunities to earn points could be coming soon.
“We’re excited to bring the Rewards hub with new activities to Rewards with Xbox, and we’re looking forward to providing even more ways to earn Rewards in the future,” the message reads.
In other news related to the Microsoft Rewards program, Microsoft recently raised the threshold for redeeming $5 Microsoft Store gift cards with Microsoft Rewards points: You now need 5,170 points to redeem these cards instead of the previous 4,650 points. However, if you’re really dedicated and also use Bing to earn even more points, you should still manage to get free gift cards to use on the Microsoft Store every month.
