Hellblade 2, Chants of Sennaar, and More Are Coming to Game Pass in May

Hellblade II Chants of Sennaar Game Pass

If last week brought some pretty bad Xbox news with the closure of two high-profile Bethesda studios, Tango Gameworks and Arkane Austin, May is shaping up to be an important month for Xbox Game Pass. Indeed, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, Microsoft’s next big Xbox exclusive game will be available on day one on Game Pass on May 21, and nine other games will also be joining the library this month.

Hellblade 2 was officially announced alongside the Xbox Series X at The Game Awards 2019 ceremony. It’s the sequel to Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, an action-adventure game featuring a heroin suffering from psychosis. The original game was a cross-platform title, and Microsoft chose to make the sequel exclusive to Xbox Series X|S consoles and PC after acquiring its developer Ninja Theory.

The game has been developed using Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 5, and it’s expected to be one of the prettiest titles released on Xbox Series X|S consoles since the beginning of this new console generation. However, the Xbox version will be restricted to 30FPS while PC players will get more granular graphic settings.

Even though Hellblade 2 is the first big Xbox exclusive game of 2024, it looks like Starfield benefited from a far bigger marketing push. Anyway, let’s hope that the game will get the attention it deserves as after Microsoft just closed the developer of the critically-acclaimed Hi-Fi Rush, it seems that the company wants all its studio acquisitions to finally start moving the financial needle.

Besides Hellblade 2, Galacticare, Hauntii, and Rolling Hills are three other games that will be released on Game Pass on day one later this month. The upcoming Game Pass additions also include the award-winning puzzle adventure game Chants of Sennaar, Moving Out 2, and the dark fantasy action-RPG, Lords of the Fallen. Immortals of Aveum, one of the first games developed with the Unreal Engine 5 will also join the EA Play list for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members later this week.
