Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Members Can Now Stream Select Xbox Games They Own

It’s been a long time coming, but Microsoft is finally allowing Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers to stream games they own on Xbox Cloud Gaming. Microsoft first announced that it was working on this feature four years ago, and while it’s finally there, there are some big caveats.

As of this writing, there are just 50 Xbox games outside of the Xbox Game Pass library that are available for streaming on Xbox Cloud Gaming. Our library of cloud-playable titles will continue to grow, as we work with our partners around the world to bring you a diverse and expansive selection of great games across devices,” said Ashley McKissick, Corporate Vice President, Xbox Experiences and Platforms Engineering.

The second caveat is that Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members can only stream these 50 games on Samsung Smart TVs, Amazon Fire TV devices, Meta Quest headsets, as well as web browsers on supported devices like smartphones, PCs, and tablets. “Next year, we’re excited to bring this feature to Xbox consoles and the Xbox app on Windows,” McKissick said.

As you can see, there are several third-party AAA games such as Cyberpunk 2077, Hogwarts Legacy, Mortal Kombat 1, NBA 2K25, Star Wars Outlaw, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. However, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, which isn’t available yet on Game Pass, is also on the list.

Even though it’s four years old, Xbox Cloud Gaming still has a “beta” label, but the ability for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members to stream the games they own is very promising. It also comes right after Microsoft kicked off a big marketing campaign to show that Xbox is no longer just a game console that sits under your TV.
