Microsoft has started testing new Game Hubs on Xbox consoles that will appear when gamers attempt to launch a game as they usually do. These new Game Hubs, which are currently available for a subset of Xbox Insiders on the Alpha Skip-Ahead ring, surface player progress data and more information about the selected game.
“Game hubs will appear whenever you select a game from your recently played games lists or your installed games list, and they include a bunch of information that we hope you’ll find as useful as we do,” the Xbox team explained. Game Hubs currently show game stats including time played and completed achievements, game captures, friends who play the game, available add-ons, and more.
You can see how these new Game Hubs currently work with the captures from VGC’s Chris Scullion below. The Play button is selected by default on Game Hubs, so Xbox Insiders just need to tap the A button again to launch the game. The Xbox team described this process as “a seamless double-tap to play experience.”

While these new Game Hubs may display information you may find useful, the Xbox teams also understand that some users may find the experience interruptive. Fortunately, Game Hubs can be disabled entirely in personalization settings or by going to My games & apps > Manage > Games & apps.
The Xbox team will be listening to Insider feedback to refine the experience, and it’s still possible the feature may not ship at all. This is quite a big change to the Xbox user experience, and it may not be the best time for Microsoft to piss off Xbox users who may already be angered to see more of their platform exclusives being released on rival consoles.
