Microsoft Announces Xbox Games Showcase + The Outer Worlds 2 Direct on June 8

Microsoft will hold its annual Xbox Games Showcase on Sunday, June 8, this year. The digital event will kick off at 10 AM PT and be followed by a deep dive into The Outer Worlds 2, the next game from Avowed developer Obsidian Entertainment.

As usual, Microsoft’s Xbox Games Showcase will mix upcoming titles from Xbox Games Studios plus new games from third-party developers. As for The Outer Worlds 2 Direct, the show will include new gameplay details plus insights from developers. The game is currently set to be released later this year on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Windows.

On the first-party front, Microsoft has many productions in the pipeline, including Fable, Gears of War: E-Day, Perfect Dark, State of Decay 3, Clockworld Revolution, Contraband, and Everwild. However, the company may not want to show games before they’re close to shipping. The much-anticipated Fable reboot, which was shown last year with a 2025 release date, has now been delayed to 2026.

The Xbox Games Showcase 2025 and The Outer Worlds 2 Direct will be streamed in over 40 languages, as well as American Sign Language, British Sign Language and English audio descriptions. The double-feature broadcast will be preceded by the Summer Game Fest opening presentation on Friday, June 6 at 2 PM PT.
