Gears of War: Reloaded, a remastered version of the original Xbox-exclusive game, is coming to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PC, and Game Pass on August 26, 2025. The game will support cross-play and cross-progression across all platforms, and Xbox players who already own the digital version of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition will receive a free upgrade to the remaster.
This Gears of War remaster by developed by The Coalition in partnership with Sumo Interactive and Disbelief. Players can expect 4K assets and remastered textures, improved shadows and reflections, up to 4K graphics, and 120 FPS support in multiplayer. The campaign, which still supports two-player co-op, will also have no loading screens.
“Gears of War: Reloaded includes the full breadth of content from the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, delivering the most complete version of the original game to date. Players will gain immediate access to all post-launch downloadable content at no additional cost — this includes the bonus Campaign act, all multiplayer maps and modes, and a full roster of classic characters and cosmetics unlockable through progression,” explained Mike Crump, Studio Head at The Coalition.
The Coalition is also working on the Gears of War: E-Day, a prequel that’s currently set to be released on Xbox Series X|S and PC. However, it wouldn’t be surprising if the game eventually makes its way to the PlayStation 5. After Forza Horizon 5 recently launched on the PS5 as well, it wouldn’t be surprising if Halo is next in line.
