Microsoft is testing the integration of games installed from other digital storefronts, such as Steam, into its Xbox app for PC. This new aggregated library, which will also be available on the upcoming ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X from Asus, will be available today for Xbox Insiders enrolled in the PC Gaming preview.
This new aggregated gaming library in the Xbox app for PC will integrate games from Battle.net, Steam, the Epic Games Store, and other popular gaming stores like GOG. Users will see all installed games from the unified library within the Xbox app, a feature also offered by the GOG Galaxy client.
“Whether you’re on a Windows PC or a handheld device, your Xbox library, hundreds of Game Pass titles, and your installed games from leading PC storefronts will always be at your fingertips. We’ll continue rolling out support for additional PC storefronts over time,” the Xbox team said today.
To test this new aggregated gaming library, you’ll need to join the PG Gaming Preview from the Xbox Insider Hub app. This is separate from the other preview programs for the Xbox OS and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
This month, the Xbox app for PC is also getting a new section showing games from Microsoft’s own studios and third-party publishers like EA, Ubisoft, and more on Game Pass. This should help to improve game discovery while browsing the app’s homepage.
