All Game Pass Members Can Play of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 for Free Until October 16

Call of Duty Black Ops 6

With EA about to drop Battlefield 6 tomorrow, October 10, Microsoft is making last year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 free to play for all Game Pass members for an entire week. That’s right, Game Pass Essential and Premium members can now play the entire game for free until October 16.

“Between October 9 to October 16, Game Pass members can play Campaign, Multiplayer and Zombies in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 for free for a full week. This free trial will include the cinematic single-player campaign. Then, jump into all of Multiplayer with more than 40 multiplayer maps, including Gravity, Mothball, and Rig, which are brand-new in Season 06. In Zombies, partake in the thrilling Zombies saga with access to all six Round-Based Zombies maps,” the Xbox team announced.

Black Ops 6 was the first Call of Duty game that Microsoft made available on day one for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC members back in October 2024. That decision cost Microsoft more than $300 million in lost sales, according to one former Activision employee who talked to Bloomberg.

The upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will also be available on day one for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members, but that game won’t be released until November 14. There was a Black Ops 7 open beta that concluded yesterday, October 8, but with Battlefield 7 about to drop tomorrow, Microsoft has legitimate reasons to be worried about Call of Duty players trying its main competitor and… not coming back for the Black Ops 7 release.

While the next Call of Duty game is still expected to be one of the best-selling games of the year, Microsoft may be right to give Game Pass members who may not be that interested in the franchise the opportunity to play last year’s episode. As a reminder, Double XP tokens and GobbleGums from Black Ops 6 will carry forward into Black Ops 7, but Operators, Operator skins, and weapons won’t.
